Keeping Cars Safe |
1967 Camaro RS
Frame up restoration of a 1967 Camaro. Full vehicle restoration, beginning with a solid car was a nice change for this project. So it began with repairs to the floors for rust through & minor repairs to the fenders, doors & body tins.
The front k-member was dismantled and powdercoated black. Then it was reassembled with all new parts and bushings to provide trouble free driving for years to come.
Engine replaced with rebuilt 350 V8, bored .030 over with balanced rotating assembly and mild street camshaft. the top end will use Vortec heads, Edelbrock intake manifold and carb to feed the throttle pedal. Exhaust headers and full dual exhaust should give it the muscle sound to compliment the good looks of the car.
The factory air conditioning system has been modified to a more modern oriface tube design, cleaning up the underhood appearance. I am currenty working on the condensor configuration due to interference issues with the hidden headlamp assemblies.
The transmission is a rebuilt 700R4 automatic with overdrive. This trany was built to perform well on the street while still providing reasonable fuel efficiency.
I upgraded to power disc/drum brake set-up to make the car stop as well as it will go. |
